Fridays in August are full of fun at Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens for little fairies, gnomes, elves, and wood sprites! The Bibby and Harold Alfond Children's Garden is the perfect place for Sugarplum Fairy music and dancing on the maze, fairy puppet shows, stories, dress-up, crafts, fairy yoga, games, the Great Bubble Machine and, of course, building fairy houses.

Join us for Family Friday Nights at the museum, July 25th, August 1st, and August 8th. The museum will be open from 5pm-8pm with train rides on the hour at 5pm, 6pm & 7pm. Events begin at 7am in Birch Harbor with registration for the 13th George Schaeffer Road Race. A pancake breakfast is served at the Winter Harbor Masonic Hall from 6-10am. The craft fair opens at 9am on Harbor Road in Winter Harbor and a Lobster Dinner will be served from 11am to 3pm. Lobster Boat Races are scheduled to begin at 10am and a parade on Main Street begins at 5:30pm. A Contra' Dance begins at 7pm at Hammond Hall, fireworks at dusk and a street dance on Main Street will follow. Some special events include book signings at the Winter Harbor 5 &10 for Photographing Acadia, Mainers on the Titanic and Schoodic. The Crusher, mascot for the Portland basketball team, Claws will be roaming through town and Winter Harbor Food Service will feature food tastings under the tent with celebrity chef Todd Simcox from Channel 5. Mountain Man Ray is expected to complete a chain saw sculpture during the day and raffle tickets will be sold for his work.
